In each each cry, each gesture, each scene, we can look for science. And while science can't explain every human reaction or decision, it can help us make sense of a world that doesn't always seem sensible. In my photography, which is primarily of people and their built world, I try to capture science stories, real or imagined, in each shot. As a biologist, I studied the evolution of behavior, and it is still behavior, emotion, and how those drive human decisions and our place in the world that fascinate me. With each shot, I discuss the science behind the photo. Photography provides us with yet another way to meld data and art and captivate new audiences with the beauty of science.
